This tiny baby. This boy. He is my reason. Our babies are now more likely to have a shorter lifespan than our own. Just think about that. Our modern lifestyle, the foods we eat, the toxins we are exposed to daily are at the root of this disturbing trend.
Our children are at a disadvantage from the time they are conceived. Our babies are born with at least 287 manmade chemicals in their tiny little bodies and these are the ones that have been tested for. There could be thousands. Not only does this have implications in disease, but also fertility.
As a mum I find this devastating. The thought that what I ate or what I used on my body or in my home affected my baby before he was even born just eats at me. Then I unknowingly continued the exposure after he was born, feeding him modern convenient foods I assumed were healthy, bathing him in products full of chemicals, cleaning the home with harsh chemicals. Until I knew better.
We know what we know, until we are educated to know better, and once we know better we do better.
Since industrialisation although we have gained immensely, it has come at a huge cost to our health and that of our children. The convenience of modern life and in my experience being born into that convenience you believe that the foods we eat are safe, that the products we use on our skin and in our homes are safe. But they aren't.
We live in a profit driven society, most companies don't care about the individual, how their product impacts on the health of you and I. What they care about is money. But, we can, every one of us, be the change that we want to see and vote with our wallets. We can grow our own food, buy organic, shop at farmers markets and choose products that are chemical free and good for the environment. We can choose health over disease. We can choose a long life for our children.
Sure you may get called hippy or health nut or some such. I say embrace that. We know what we know. Lead by example and soon others will want what you have: good health, glowing skin, boundless energy. Then we can help them. Thats what I'm going to do. One person at a time.
